California Mission Revival Renovation and Addition

San Diego, California

Built in 1928 and Requa inspired, this home was a dream to re-create. This project was a structural feat - opening up 3 rooms to create one large kitchen, dining and entertainment space while maintaining the original archways connecting to the staircase, lounge and living spaces - all without seeing any columns or beams! We removed and reconstructed the original wood floors and refinished to a dark Spanish finish. A gut remodel, we specified new lighting, windows and door systems, custom inset cabinetry, smart controls, and patio upgrades. We love the improved daylighting and views, the Moroccan Alahambra style inset cabinetry detailing at the island and new walk-in pantry, and the cozy built-in nook at the stair opening.
